Diuretics

  • high urine Cl when using diuretics
  • low urine Cl when stopped

  • child with symptoms similar to adults taking diuretics
  • increased Na delivery to CD, increased aldosterone, increased K/H secretion = hypokalemia, alkalosis

Vomiting

  • eating disorder

  • "secret"
  • initial high Cl because diuretics inhibit

Hyperaldosteronism

  • no fluid overload
  • urinary Cl increased due to increased Na excretion
  • only time low urinary Cl is vomiting
