adequately sedate patients who are initially intubated with RSI

Patients initially intubated will be paralyzed. You should adequately sedate the patients because they could be awake and aware while paralyzed. Use propofol gtt for the initial hour before titrating down. Start gtt at 20-30 mcg/kg/min for elderly patients and higher for younger patients. Consider usage of 2 mg Versed to help with amnesia. 1
