aliasing occurs when velocity exceeds Nyquist limit on pulse wave doppler

  • aliasing occurs in pulse wave doppler mode when the velocity of the flow is higher than the Nyquist limit
  • In this case, the color can appear to be on opposite side (unexpected color change)1
  • e.g. red becomes lighter and lighter until it switches to blue and vice versa
