Modified MRC Dyspnea scale is used to measure breathlessness. However, COPD can cause other symptoms. New questionnaires developed to measure COPD effectiveness include St. George's Respiratory Questionnaire (SGRQ) and Chronic Respiratory Questionnaire (CRQ).
COPD Assessment Test (CAT) is often used because it's shorter and still comprehensive. CAT over 10 is cut point for treatment for COPD.
SGRQ is widely used because score > 25 is very uncommon in healthy persons and is often used as threshold for treatment of symptoms.1
