Matching

  • T cell ignore self APC presenting with self antigen and self MHC
  • donor APC present self antigen on donor MHC: T cell recognize as foreign

  • CD8 attach donated tissue

  • don't really match MHC, but match HLA that make up MHC

  • receive one set from each parent

Rejection

  • still in surgery right after connection

  • organ connected to blood vessel but still appear white (not perfused because coagulation)

  • in some degree in most transplants
