Risks

• high risk and low risk tumors for tumor lysis syndrome

Pathophysiology

• tumor lysis syndrome occurs as result of large tumor burden undergoing death

Labs

• electrolyte and uric acid abnormalities are most common finding of tumor lysis syndrome

Treatment

• IV hydration is primary treatment
• use allopurinol for prophylaxis and rasburicase for treatment of tumor lysis syndrome
• initiate dialysis in severe tumor lysis syndrome
