ICU MAP targets of 65
- Surviving sepsis has guideline for MAP of 65.1
- Higher MAP of 80-85 does not improve mortality but has lower RRT for patients with chronic hypertension in SEPSISPAM. Higher MAP goal increases atrial fibrillation risks. 2
- Higher MAP could be tried in patients with cirrhosis or poor urine output.
- 65 trial shows that MAP > 60 is safe in patients over age 65.3
- Patients with chronic hypotension could be tried with lower MAP goal.
- Patients with ESRD could also be tried on lower MAP goal (AKI is not a concern).
- trauma patient may have lower MAP goal. 4
