Use 2 week taper for severe asthma exacerbation. COPD patients do not generally need long prednisone taper:
- Total 16 days, use prednisone 10 mg, total 40 tablets
- 40 mg x 4 days
- 30 mg x 4 days
- 20 mg x 4 days
- 10 mg x 4 days
