PAPi is often used as predictor of RV failure in inferior MI and as monitoring for left assist ventricular device placement.

It's also associated with mortality in pulmonary arterial hypertension.¹

A low PAPi (closer to 1) is associated with increased all cause mortality and major cardiac event.²
