SABA is not recommended for treatment of mild asthma

Previously used as monotreatment for asthma, SABA such as albuterol is no longer recommended as mono treatment. SABA only treatment is associated with increased exacerbations, lower lung function test, increased allergic response, airway inflammation.1

Reason for this is likely SABA does not address underlying inflammation.
