sarcoidosis patient population and symptoms
Patient population
- most commonly seen in young african american females, 20-60 years old
- mostly negative family hx1
Symptoms
- pulmonary involvement: cough, dyspnea
- cardiac: chest discomfort, may not be related to cardiac
- eyes: anterior uveitis in about 25% of patients and symptoms in 5%
- skin: skin lesions, erythema nodosum, lupus pernio is sarcoid skin problem and not related to lupus
- parotid gland swelling
- constitutional: fatigue, malaise, weight loss, arthralgia, anorexia, fever
- Patient with bilateral hilar lymphadenopathy, erythema nodosum, anterior uveitis likely has sarcoidosis.
- genitourinary sarcoidosis and testicular nodules
