treatment for lymphoid interstitial pneumonia LIP usually includes immunosuppression

Treatment of LIP includes corticosteroids with a taper over 6 to 12 months. Refractory disease may be treated with azathioprine, cyclophosphamide, cyclosporine, or rituximab. Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia prophylaxis is recommended. Approximately 5% of patients with LIP develop lymphoma, and the risk of lymphoma is increased in patients with Sjögren syndrome, usually with a favorable prognosis.1
