VL intubation has higher first pass success compared to DL


In the large, multicenter randomized DEVICE trial, when compared with direct laryngoscopy, video laryngoscopy resulted in higher rates of successful intubation on the first attempt. However, despite this improved first-pass success, rates of complications, including severe hypoxemia, were similar in patients who underwent intubation with video laryngoscopy compared with direct laryngoscopy (choice A is incorrect). 1
